{bon mot} monday | frustration
Change has a prequel with a vibrant cast of characters — doubt, fear, anxiety, impatience and one best expressed by “vorfreude,” the German word for joyful anticipation. And then there’s frustration . . . an ombudsman that prepares us for change by reminding us that we don’t have to define the “how” for a shift to unfold.
When I’m feeling annoyed and upset by my inability to make something happen, I remember that frustration is my friend. Yes, frustration still frustrates me. It also reminds me that I’m at the gateway of change, and I don’t have to spend any more time searching for the right key. The gate’s unlocked. All I have to do is let go and push it open to embrace what’s on the other side.
