{bon mot} monday | share the load

on 01-25-2016

Some situations suck the “should I/ shouldn’t I” right out of asking for help — a car that won’t start, heavy bureau that won’t move or quicksand encounter that’s literally bringing you down.

But how about when said quicksand isn’t the Gilligan’s Island variety, but a situation you’re grappling with? What if you’re not reaching out for help because you have no idea what to ask for?

For me, this is where today’s quote comes in . . . a reminder that one surefire way to deal with a heavy burden is to share the load. When I remember that one of friendship’s greatest gifts is the present of presence, I don’t need to find the right words or even find words at all. Whatever is weighing me down is instantly easier to carry.
